Theoretical study of the energetics of the reactions of triplet dioxygen with hydroquinone, semiquinone, and their protonated forms: Relation to the mechanism of superoxide generation in the respiratory chain

Article Abstract:

Study has shown that ubiquinone-mediated one-electron reduction of the triplet-oxygen molecule in non-polar environment is likely to proceed via electron transfer from the ubiquinol monoanion or from neutral ubisemiquinone with preference to the first process. These results agree with the theoretical and experiment findings that proton-donor groups are required for anthraquinone-mediated oxygen reduction.

Defects and disorder: probing the surface chemistry of heterogenite (CoOOH) by dissolution using hydroquinone and iminodiacetic acid

Article Abstract:

Use of hydroquinone and iminodiacetic acid as a dissolution agent, has no bearing on the morphology of post dissolution particles. The character of dissolution in heterogenite particles, depends on the occurrence of misoriented boundaries between the ~5nm building block particles.

Molecular mechanisms of hydrogen-loaded beta-hydroquinone clathrate

Article Abstract:

The molecular interactions of hydrogen-loaded beta-hydroquinone clathrate were investigated by molecular dynamics simulations. It is found that at lower temperatures, higher loadings are more stable, whereas at higher temperatures, lower loadings are more stable.
