Thermal chemistry of 2-propanol and 2-propyl iodide on clean and oxygen-pretreated Ni(100) single-crystal surfaces

Article Abstract:

A number of temperature-programmed desorption (TPD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and reflection-absorption infrared spectroscopy (RAIRS) experiments are performed to characterize the chemistry of 2-propanol and 2-propyl iodide on clean and oxygen-pretreated Ni(100) single-crystal surfaces. On clean Ni(100), 2-propyl surface groups undergo rapid disproportionation to propylene and propene.

Adsorption characteristics of tripodal thiol-functionalized porphyrins on gold

Article Abstract:

X-ray photoelectron and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy studies are reported for self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of two tripodal thiol-functionalized metalloporphyrins (Zn and Cu) and three benchmark tripods on gold substrates. The spectroscopic studies reveal that none of the five tripodal molecules bond to the gold surface through all three sulfur atoms.

Enantioselectivity of adsorption sites created by chiral 2-butanol adsorbed on Pt(111) single-crystal surfaces

Article Abstract:

Temperature programmed desorption and reflection adsorption infrared spectroscopies are used to characterize the adsorption and surface chemistry of 2-butanol and propylene oxide on Pt(111). 2-butanol, monolayer bonding takes place through the oxygen atom and with the C-O bond close to perpendicular to the surface.
