Thermal stability and thermodynamic properties of hybrid proton-conducting polyaryl etherketones

Article Abstract:

The thermal and structural stability of sulfonated cross-linked polyether ether ketone (PEEK) and its silicon-containing class II hybrid derivatives are characterized by combination of mass spectrometry, infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. The introduction of inorganic silanol moieties has improved the thermal stability when compared to sulfonated products.

Dehydrogenation of a combined LiAlH4/LiNH2 system

Article Abstract:

The dehydrogenation properties of the combined system of LiAlH4 and LiNH2 are investigated under atmospheric argon. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) of 2LiAlH4/LiNH2 mixtures without any catalysts have shown that a large amount of hydrogen can be released in three dehydrogenation steps and it is also found that LiNH2 effectively destabilizes LiAlH4 by reacting with LiH during dehydrogenation process of LiAlH4.

Weak hydrogen bonds as a structural motif for two-dimensional assemblies of oligopyridines on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite: An STM investigation

Article Abstract:

Four different oligopyridines are investigated by scanning tunnel microscopy (STM) at the liquid/highly oriented pyrolytic graphite interface. The observed monolayers display functional subunits and highly ordered voids that might be exploited as potential binding sites for several guests such as small molecules or metal ions and clusters.
