Thermally stable blue emitting terfluorene block copolymers

Article Abstract:

Spectroscopic and morphological studies are used to investigate the photophysical and morphological properties of a series of rod-coil diblock copolymers TFPS(I) and -(II) as pristine and annealed films. These materials have continued to emit pure blue light even after the photooxidation treatment and formation of the fluorenone moiety without the appearance of the low energy emission band centered at 520-530 nm and hence these copolymers possess promising optical properties for application in polymeric light-emitting diodes.

Phase separation in binary polymer/liquid crystal mixtures: Network breaking and domain growth by coalescence-induced coalescence

Article Abstract:

Phase separation kinetics in films of low molecular weight thermotropic liquid crystal (4-cyano-4'-n-octyl-biphenyl) with flexible polymer (polystyrene) are investigated by using a small-angle light scattering method along with optical microscopy observation. Morphological analysis show that the average size of the droplets that formed from the network grows with time, as [t.sup.alpha], alpha = 0.9 plusmn 0.1, in the isotropic phase and in the nematic phase.

Molecular simulation of excimer fluorescence in polystyrene and poly(vinylcarbazole)

Article Abstract:

Two types of excimers the fully and the partially overlapping excimers, namely, excimers, exciplexes are observed in fluorescence emission spectra of poly(vinylcarbazole) (PVK). The molecular dynamics simulations are performed at room temperature for polystyrene (PS) and for isotactic and syndiotactic PVK.
