Time-resolved resonance Raman study of the exciplex formed between excited Cu(super -)porphyrin and DNA

Article Abstract:

The experiment was conducted on the photoinduced reversible process of exciplex formation and decay between the water-soluble cationic metalloporphyrin 5,10,15,20-tetrakis[4-(N-methylpyridyl)]porphyrin (Cu(T4MPyP) and calf-thymus DNA and study was done by using picosecond time-resolved Raman technique. The results show the formation of two exciplex species, which can be distinguished from each other by their relaxation kinetics.

Thermodynamic characterization of the association of cyanine dyes with DNA

Article Abstract:

The association of three monomeric cyanine dyes with double-standard DNA was investigated. It was found that when these positively charged dyes associate with DNA, the number of condensed Na(super +) ions that are released from the DNA backbone is correlated with the structural charge of the dye.
