Time-resolving analysis of cryotropic gelation of water/poly(vinyl alcohol) solutions via small-angle neutron scattering

Article Abstract:

Time resolving small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) is used for examining the structural transformations occurring in the homogeneous aqueous solutions of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) when freezing and thawing cycles are applied. The kinetic parameters of PVA crystallization during the permanence of these gels at subzero temperatures are similar to that shown by PVA during the first freezing step of the solutions.

Formation of a three-dimensional microstructure of Fe(sub 3)O(sub 4)-poly(vinyl alcohol) composite by evaporating the hydrosol under a magnetic field

Article Abstract:

A sonochemical method for the preparation of a colloidal solution of iron oxide in decalin by the use of oleic acid as a long-chain stabilizer is described. Replacing long-chain PVA by SDS resulted in the disappearance of dendrite fractal structures which is due to the extensive magnetic interactions between the particles.

Relaxations in poly(vinyl alcohol) and in poly(vinyl acetate) detected by fluorescence emission of 4-aminophthalimide and Prodan

Article Abstract:

The dynamics of H-bond interactions in poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) are studied by steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence emission of 4-aminophthalimide (4-AP) and Prodan. These two-probes of similar excited-state sensitivity are used to probe the dynamics of the relaxation process in the nanosecond time window.
