Toward a square grid polymer: electrochemistry of tentacled tetragonal star connectors, C4R4-Co-C5(HgY)5, on mercury

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the oxidation-reduction characteristics off tetragonal star connectors. An electrochemical system for cyclic voltammetry, phase-sensitive AC polarography and DC polarography were carried out to obtain electrochemical measurements. The anode and cathode spaces were separated using a horizontal salt bridge. In addition, the compounds were then analyzed to determine the adsorption of the compounds on mercury.

Molecular dipole chains: excitations and dissipation

Article Abstract:

A study on molecular dipoles with centers rigidly positioned with respect to one another revealed that their low-energy dispersion relation is relatively similar to the optical phonon. The excitation of the molecular dipoles travels down the chain like a solitary wave and reflects from the chain end. Their thermal behavior exhibits a melt-like transition at temperature equal to the local rotational barrier.

Calculation of relative energies of permethylated oligosilane conformers in vapor and in alkane solution

Article Abstract:

Computational methods are used to find the relative energies of oligosilane conformers including corrections for zero-point vibrational energy (ZPVE), enthalpy, entropy and solvation free energy. The results have provided the total relative free energy for conformers of Me[(Si[M.sub.2]).sub.n]Me (n = 4, 5, 6, 7) at three temperatures in the gas phase and two temperatures in solution phase.
