US: BASF NICHIYU COATINGS FOR MOTOR INDUSTRY

BASF Nichiyu Coatings North America is a new of BASF and NOF of Japan based in Southfield, Michigan. It will supply coatings to Japanese car factories in North America. The new company should generate a turnover of US$ 25mn within three years. Automotive coatings for the Japanese market are being developed by BASF Nichiyu Coatings R & D in Yokohama.

At its Morganton factory in North Carolina, BASF Corporation Industrial Coatings Group is to introduce technology used at the group's European plants for the production of radiation-cured and water-based systems for the foil coating market. The German chemicals group, which claims to be a leading supplier of such systems, thus wants to conquer the US market.

US: BASF to concentrate coatings research

BASF Corp is to concentrate industrial coatings research and development at its site in Southfield, Michigan, and close the research laboratory in Columbus, Ohio. The move is explained with efficiency considerations. BASF is to make investments of US$ 1mn in the central laboratory.
