Ultraviolet emission of ZnS nanoparticles confined within a functionalized mesoporous host

Article Abstract:

A highly loaded ZnS nanoparticle (NP) array or nanocomposites is prepared within well-ordered mesoporous nanochannnels by repetitive insertion of the guest ZnS in reverse micelles. The ZnS NPs incorporated within the organically thiol-funtionalized host mesoporous channels reveal the ultraviolet emission of 1.3 plus-minus 0.2 ns with a single recombination lifetime, due to the potential traps of core lattice sulfur vacancies, existing in the confined ZnS.

V(sub 4)S(sub 9)Br(sub 4): A novel high-spin vanadium cluster thiobromide with square-planar metal core

Article Abstract:

The novel vanadium thiobromide, V(sub 4)S(sub 9)Br(sub 4), with a square-planner metal cluster core was synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, measurements of magnetic property and the heat capacity, and density functional theory (DFT) calculation of the electronic structure. The electronic structure of V(sub 4)S(sub 9)Br(sub 4) is characterized by a high spin state, that is, the electronic system is in the excited state.

Photophysics of sulfur-containing centers on AgBr surfaces

Article Abstract:

An attempt is made to examine 'sulfur-sensitized' AgBr microcrystals, which enabled to produce a picture of photophysical processes that can occur when sulfide is deposited on an AgBr surface. The structure and energy levels with respect to the conduction and valence bands of AgBr of several species that may be formed during sulfur sensitization are calculated.
