Vibrational spectroscopy of perfluorocarboxylic acids from the infrared to the visible regions

Article Abstract:

Fourier transform and cavity ring-down spectroscopy are used for describing the gas-phase mid-infrared (IR), near-IR, and visible vibrational spectra of perfluoropropionic, perfluorooctanoic and perfluorononanoic acids. The results have shown that perfluorocarboxylic acids have more harmonic O-H bonds, smaller transition frequencies, and smaller intensities when compared to shorter-chain hydrocarbon acids, alcohols and peroxides.

Solvent effects on AOT reverse micelles in liquid and compressed alkanes investigated by neutron Spin-Echo spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

Neutron Spin-Echo (NSE) spectroscopy is employed to study the interfacial properties of reverse micelles formed with the common surfactant sodium bis-2-ethylhexyl-sulfosuccinate (AOT) in liquid alkane solvents and compressed propane. A constant translational diffusion of the reverse micelles through the bulk phase is observed, conforming to the Stokes-Einstein relationship with isopycnic conditions.

Strong cooperative enhancement of two-photon absorption in dendrimers

Article Abstract:

Unambiguous spectroscopic evidence of strong cooperative enhancement of two-photon absorption (TPA) in a series of dendritic macromolecules is presented. The results show that enhancement is facilitated by the quasi-planar structure, which allows direct interbranch conjugation throughout the molecule.
