Charge-transfer phenomena in holographic recording material: dichromated poly(acrylic acid)

Article Abstract:

Charge-transfer phenomena in the holographic recording material dichromated poly(acrylic acid) (DCPAA) have been investigated. DCPAA has been used as a material for real-time holographic recording. Its photochemical behavior when irradiated in conditions like those used for recording has been studied. A photoredox process can be seen under UV-vis spectroscopy. Its efficiency depends having dimethylformamide (DMF) for an electron donor; the presence of DMF at 10% by volume concentration makes the reaction faster. Chromium(V) of thermal origin, given no light, was found, as were chromium(III) and organic macroradicals. CO2 and carboxylate ions are formed. The photoreaction is thought to go through an acido-basic reaction between dichromate in the excited state and poly(acrylic acid).

Vibrational spectra and structure of tris(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminum(III)

Article Abstract:

The vibrational spectra of a very commonly used light-emitting material in organic electroluminescence (EL) devices, tris(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminum (Alq3) have been studied. For the first time, the normal modes and geometry of ground state fac-Alq3 isomer have been computer with ab initio methods. Normal inelastic scattering excited at 633 nm is reported. Low-temperature FT-Raman, as well as the infrared spectra, has been investigated. An attempt was made to complete the vibrational characterization of thin solid films with transmission and reflection-absorption FT-IR spectroscopy (RAIRS) on smooth silver films.
