Patterned atomic reaction at surfaces

Article Abstract:

The characteristic imprint of the reaction products chemically bound to the surface is the pattern in the patterned atomic reaction at surfaces. Although many techniques, such as low-energy electron diffraction are able to detect long-range surface patterns or reconstructions, only scanning probe microscopies, such as STM are able to detect the local patterning at nanometer scale.

Coherent vibrations of adsorbate induced by femtosecond laser excitation

Article Abstract:

The progress in excitation and dephasing of coherent motions at surfaces and interfaces by irradiation with femtosecond-laser pulses is described. An attempt is made to concentrate on studies on time-resolved nonlinear spectroscopy, which is a major source of information on coherent vibrations at surfaces.
