Interactions of atmospheric trace gases with ice surfaces: adsorption and reaction

Article Abstract:

The dynamic and mobile nature of surficial water molecules promotes hydrolysis reactions that do not proceed in the gas phase and lead to efficient adsorption of a wide range of atmospheric trace gases. Adsorption leads to ionic dissociation that drives a set of atmospherically important heterogeneous reactions via ionic mechanisms.

Iodine in marine boundary layer

Article Abstract:

Iodine in marine boundary layer has an influence on ozone destruction, the oxidizing capacity of the troposphere, denoxification, and particle formation. Modeling studies are reasonably consistent in predicting that iodine-catalyzed ozone destruction may contribute up to half of marine boundary layer chemical net destruction.

Master equation analysis of pressure-dependent atmospheric reactions

Article Abstract:

The treatment of pressure-dependent reactions accounts for the effects of energy transfer, angular momentum, and details of the potential energy surface. Efforts are being made to improve master equation methods and to use them in informing development of practical approximations.
