Measurements of peroxides and what they tell us

Article Abstract:

Peroxides, O3 and water are comeasured and it is demonstrated that the O3 durinal and seasonal cycles in the marine boundary layer (MBL) are largely a result of in situ photochemical destruction, with the majority of the O3 lost via peroxides and their subsequent deposition. The amount of peroxide made from O3 destruction is of a very similar magnitude to the amount of O3 destroyed which makes peroxide measurement a vital component of the study of tropospheric O3.

Fluorinated peroxides

Article Abstract:

The reaction of a peroxide with fluorocarbon yields fluorinated peroxides under various reaction conditions. These peroxides exhibit different decomposition properties because of the presence of two strong electron-withdrawing fluoroalkyl groups, which weakens the O-O bond. This property enables the fluorinated peroxides to introduce a fluoroalkyl group into the substrates via a radical process or a single electron transfer.

Singlet-oxygen chemiluminescence in peroxide reactions

Article Abstract:

An overview of the important role that singlet oxygen (super 1)O2 plays in the field of peroxide chemiluminescence (CL) is presented. In such chemiluminescent peroxide systems, either singlet oxygen acts as the direct emitter or it constitutes the oxidant to mediate light emission, presumably through an intermediary dioxetane.
