Properties and production of valienamine and its related analogues

Article Abstract:

The authors review the publications on valienamine and its related pseudo-sugars. The topics of interest include the absolute configurations of these compounds, the methods developed for the production of the compounds, and the application of valienamine and its related pseudo-sugars as inhibitors of processing enzyme glucosidase I in cancer treatment and as inhibitors of the HIV replication-etiologic agent for AIDS and AIDS-related complexes.

Chemotherapeutic interventions targeting HIV interactions with host-associated carbohydrates

Article Abstract:

HIV-I entry mechanisms are reviewed with a particular emphasis on viral and host cell receptor structural features. The three-dimensional structure of this protein in addition to specific regions, where contacts are made with the host cell is also presented.
