Pyruvate ferredoxin oxidoreductase and its radical intermediate

Article Abstract:

The author reviews the publications on ferredoxin oxidoreductases. The topics of interest include ferredoxin oxidoreductases' metabolic role, structure, the intermolecular interactions between ferredoxin oxidoreductases and thiamine pyrophosphate, and the intermediates in the ferredoxin oxidoreductase reaction.

Metals and their scaffolds to promote difficult enzymatic reactions

Article Abstract:

The way in which metal ions and their scaffolds promote difficult enzymatic or biochemical reactions is discussed. The mononuclear iron, diiron and heme-containing oxygenases catalyze the generation of high- valent metal-oxo intermediates performing hydrogen atom abstraction and oxygenation reactions.
