Simplification of mathematical models of chemical reaction systems

Article Abstract:

Model order reduction can be utilized in the analysis of complex chemical reaction systems which is necessary in the development, design and control of chemical reaction processes. The accuracy for the modelling task, the structure of the reaction system and the extent of available kinetic information determine the choice of model order reduction which can be done through lumping, sensitivity analysis and time-scale analysis.

Genetically engineered whole-cell sensing systems: coupling biological recognition with reporter genes

Article Abstract:

Cell-based biosensing systems differ from other types of biosensors in that they provide the physiological response of the cell to the analyte as well as the bioavailability of the analyte being measured. This review focuses on the design, development, and applications of cell-based biosensing systems employing genetically engineered reporter genes.

Reactivity of dioxygen-copper systems

Article Abstract:

The mechanisms by which copper complexes bind and activate dioxygen are highlighted. Particular impetus for future research aimed at these types of molecules is provided by the established significance in oxygenase and oxidase enzymes of active sites with one or three copper ions.
