Utility of acid-base behavior in excited states of organic molecules

Article Abstract:

The use of acid-base chemistry in excited states and modification on a molecule in such conditions giving rise to novel chemical reactions, are analyzed. The 'pH jump' experiments to study the resulting process are also discussed. The advent of laser-flash photolysis paves the way for a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of acid-base chemistry. The extent of acid-base chemistry widens due to researches in excited-states carbon acids, ease of arymethyl alcohol separation by light and photoprotonation of aromatic compounds.

Inorganic solid acids and their use in acid-catalyzed hydrocarbon reactions

Article Abstract:

Optimum catalytic activity can be achieved in a wide variety of inorganic compound reactions through the proper combination of acidity and pore size. The possible uses of inorganic solids in acid-catalyzed hydrocarbon reactions are discussed in detail, with emphasis on silica, zeolites and zeotypes, heteropoly acids and sulfated metal oxides.

Mobius aromaticity and delocalization

Article Abstract:

Molecular instances of conjugated Mobius bands and relate systems are reviewed with a focus on the relationship among their properties, geometries, and associated electronic delocalization. Mobius systems are capable of sustaining characteristic patterns of reactivity with selection rules for electrophilic substitution.
