Article Abstract:

Word processing societies are beginning to reshape their image as personal computers play a larger role in office automation. Word processing personnel are seeing their careers grow and develop into that of information systems planners and impelmentors. Since text- editing machines are being replaced by mini-computers, the word processing staff must also develop a new image, hence the changes in WP organizations.

The Hannover Fair in Hannover, West Germany, contains a large display of office automation equipment. More than 1,000 vendors participate. When the show opened in April, many truly integrated word processing and data processing applications were displayed. Graphic applications are increasing equipment requirements for more memory and higher quality printers.
