Dataquest: training market expanding

Article Abstract:

A 1997 report by research services Dataquest has found that the information technology (IT) training market is positioned overall, to expand in size but decrease in relation to the rest of the support services industry. The report predicts that the global IT education and training market will exhibit slightly more rapid expansion than the US market and nearly double in size from $9.6 billion in 1995 to roughly $16.8 billion in 2000. The US IT training and education market is expected to increase from $4.2 billion in 1995 to $7.5 billion by Dec 31, 1999.

ReCor Corp. Network-Based Training: Microsoft Word 97

Article Abstract:

ReCor Corp's Network Based Training is a series of interactive simulation of popular desktop software that teaches users through a step-by-step demonstration and information on how to complete a task. A 486 66MHz processor with a 256 Super VGA color and Windows, 3.1, Windows 95 or Windows NT are the minimum systems required for the courseware. Some of its minor features still needs improvement but a significant positive aspect is its ability to map to the Microsoft's User Specialist Certification program goals.

Steep demand has banks leading pack toward streamlined training systems

Banks are leading the way in managing their information technology training. Information technology professionals hired by banks are leading other educators in the industry to develop streamlined, automated learning systems. Observers agree that banks are taking a chance on new methods of delivering information, which include interactive video classes, by making them available to one department only. Once It becomes successful, banks begin to implement the system enterprise-wide.
