Article Abstract:

IBM announced the System 36 5364 processor ($6,000) that attaches directly to a personal computer (PC), PC-XT, or PC-AT to become known as the System-36 PC. The new system supports four workstations and up to sixty-four remote terminals or printers. The 5364 processor has 256K of main memory, a 40 MB hard-disk drive, and a 5.25-inch 1.2 MB diskette drive. IBM announced a new System-38 processor, the 5382 model 18, which the company claims has ten percent better performance than its predecessor, model 8. The 5382 model 18 costs less than model 8 and is available in four, six, eight MB memory sizes. IBM's System-38 5381 model 6 is now enhanced with 2MB more of main memory to a maximum of 6MB. Other products were also announced.
