CAP Ventures has presented the 1999 Large-Format Printing Conference in Tokyo, Japan, whose key topics were replenishable supplies and hardware. Speakers projected the strong potential of the large-format printer market whose global market was estimated at $4.05 billion in FY1998. According to David Williamson, CAP Ventures Dir of Large-Format Printing Consulting Service, nine factors will fuel demand for large-format printers, namely, advertising agencies, commercial printers, sign shops, quick printers, corporate printing operations, service bureaus, screen printers, reprographic centers and commercial photo labs.

NEC Corp. took advantage of the introduction of Microsoft Corp.'s Windows CE operating system by integrating the software product into the development of its handheld computers. Another operating system, Windows CE v2.0, is also integrated into the Mobile Gear II, MC-R300, MC-R500 and MC-R510. NEC's latest product, the handheld MobilePro 800 computer, is using Microsoft's Windows CE v2.11.
