Making Human Resources Pay Off

Article Abstract:

Personnel functions of the past are now incorporated into human resources departments that emphasize getting the best performance from employees cost-effectively. Managers can run personnel functions in a business-like way by using cost-benefit analysis standards. Steps that can be taken to determine if a recommended human resource program is cost effective include answering a set of questions about the proposal, then using the answers to complete a summary cost-benefit analysis. Forms with questions to ask and a summary outline are included. Profitability in a company can be helped when managers use a cost-benefit analysis approach to human resource areas such as staffing, compensation, benefits and labor relations.
