Memo: Productive Surroundings

Article Abstract:

The trend in business conferences, a $130 billion business itself, is toward smaller, more informal gatherings, according to Marshall Howard. Meetings tend to be held in more remote, less distracting settings. In line with this trend, Howard's company, The Conference System, offers five locations in the Southwest and California where all arrangements, including stress-reducing recreational programs, are made for twenty-four to 150 people for a flat fee.

Memo: Hazards in the Office

Article Abstract:

Many hazards exist in a typical office, according to Jean M. Stellman, an associate professor of public health at Columbia University. Poorly designed furniture, glare from overhead lights, inadequate ventilation, radiation from video display terminals, and ozone from photocopiers endanger employees. High levels of stress also contribute to health problems.
