Micrographics: A New Image for the Future

Article Abstract:

Since 1978 the market in micrographics has grown eleven per cent yearly. Micrographics technology is being integrated into computerized applications, especially with the advent of computer assisted retrieval (CAR) filing systems. At the National Micrographics Show in April 1983, Kodak displayed its KAR-4000 system with the Mentor minicomputer and Acctex software. Information Design Inc. offers the ADC-3AD reader with computer interfacing capability. Computer output microfilm (COM) systems are also becoming integrated. Presently, the optical digital disks are too expensive to be a serious competitor. A recent trend in the micrographics field is in developing portable equipment. Listings of micrographic readers-printers and cameras are presented.

Dictation's Easier

Article Abstract:

The dictation machine is by and large under-utilized. Managerial reluctance is blamed for this low profile of dictation machines. It often comes down to 'mike fright.' Newer units now come in all sizes and costs and with attractive new features. Vendor lists are provided for portable, desktop, and centralized versions of dictation equipment. There are pictures of some new models.
