Personal Electronic Printers Expected to Create New Markets

Article Abstract:

The EP-20, EP-22 and EP-44 are personal electronic printers (PEP) from Brother Industries Ltd. They are small, lightweight systems that can print in five European languages. These printers offer independent keys for calculation functions and display, thermal transfer printing and on-the-display correction, deletion and insertion of characters. Additional manufacturers are expected to enter the PEP market in 1984.

Land mobile radio communications equipment will total $4 billion yen sales by 1987. This growth is attributed to the popularity of the cellular radio and a recovering economy. Cellular radios will increase offshore competition between suppliers. A chart indicates the growth of land mobile radio communications.

Banks to Create a $4.8 Billion Yen Market for On-Line Branch Systems from 1983-1990

The demand for on-line banking systems will result in a $4.8 billion yen market from 1983-1990. This demand will result from an increase in branch banking networks. Commercial banks will be the biggest users of on-line systems. Automated tellers machines (ATMs) will account for the largest sales.
