Should You Send Your Input Overseas?

Article Abstract:

Low labor costs is the main attraction of overseas data entry services. The possibility of utilizing facsimile transmission via satellite makes offshore data entry even more appealing. Satellite Data Company, George Simpson president, is the only company offering this service. Norman Bodek, chairman of Data Entry Managers Association, is uncertain if this technology can handle the transmission of high volumes efficiently and economically. Jamaica and Barbados are attractive locations because of a large unemployed but educated labor pool. Charles Crichton and Brian Young have been appointed directors of the Data Conversion and Transmission Task Force to promote the process in Jamaica.

Office automation equipment is forcing changes in furniture design and office lay-outs. There is much research in the design of electronic support furniture. Photographs of some of the latest models accompany the text.
