Micron TransPort VLX

Article Abstract:

Micron Electronics' $1,999 TransPort VLX Pentium-based notebook provides users with a large number of sophisticated features at a relatively low price point. The TransPort includes and 8x CD-ROM drive, a 1.44GB hard drive, 16MB of RAM, a 133MHz Pentium CPU and an 11.3-in dual-scan SVGA screen. The nickel-metal hydride battery provides an average of 2.5 hours of life, and the TransPort includes 256KB of pipeline burst cache memory, and Micron offers an optional 33.6-Kbps modem and expansions to hard disk space and RAM. The documentation and technical support offered by Micron is more than adequate, but the keyboard is not designed to maximize user ergonomics, and the touch-pad is so close to the space bar that unintentional errors are unavoidable.
