Sponsorships - Their Nature and Role as a Form of Media

Article Abstract:

Sponsorship has been used by business as a means of promotion. Sponsorships usually take the form of a contribution in cash or the promotion of an activity in sports or other leisure activities. As a business activity, sponsorships have grown in the last ten years. Sponsorships assist in sales, publicity, image, awareness of the company, community relations and entertainment for customers. Television exposure was the primary interest of sponsoring companies. A table summarizes the different types of sponsorship and the image these events evoke.

Five products in the magnetic media market are announced. Fuji introduced the GT-11 high bias cassette tape. Scotch is now offering both Beta and VHS blank tapes. SSK has introduced a VCR head cleaner. TDK introduced the HD-Pro videotape. Sony has introduced a new line of Beta tapes. A brief description and price of each item are given.
