Lotus Acquires Software Arts

Lotus Development Corp. plans to acquire Software Arts, developer of the Visicalc spreadsheet program. The founders of Software Arts intend to join Lotus' development team. Software Arts has been financially troubled since the settlement of a law suit. In addition to Visicalc, the company's products are the TK Solver and Spotlight packages.

Citizens & Southern Bank of Atlanta, Georgia uses the LAM 1 traffic measurement device to monitor its telephone traffic. The information gained from the system helps the bank determine its staffing and equipment needs. It is also used to back-up previously made decisions.
