Systems in Action

Article Abstract:

At the Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical Center productivity in information management has increased three-fold with the implementation of an information system based on an IBM 3081 computer. Various services, such as intensive care billing, are supported by minicomputer systems. All systems are now integrated through a Xerox information system consisting of Ethernet network communications, Xerox 8010 workstations and 860 word processors. The 8010 can create coded vouchers and access and automatically retrieve the pertinent billing information.
