Technologies ignited intense competition in projector market

Article Abstract:

The Infocomm International '99 in Orlando, FL, featured the latest lines of business-use audio-video equipment. Manufacturers of multimedia projectors exhibited XGA models weighing less than 5kg and delivering 800 to 1,000 lumens. The exhibit showed the increasing use of DLP technology particularly in the portable models. Meanwhile, makers of digital cinemas with projectors have launched products with more 10,000 lumens. The global market for multimedia projectors is expected to grow from 500,000 units in 1998 to 650,000-750,000 units in 1999.
