All computer retailers should address the after-market. A trained staff, bundled systems and consumer education are essential for the peripheral business. Particular importance should be placed on monitors and modems, where retailers have to be extremely knowledgeable. Matrix printers and disk drives will also begin to see higher sales.

IBM PCjr Could Help to Stabilize Market

The announcement of the IBM PCjr home computer has forced other home computer vendors to raise their prices. Texas Instruments reduced the price of its TI 994-A as well as related software and cut its losses. Retailers feel the PCjr should sell well even though it lacks a full-stroke keyboard.
