With LCD, desktop computer saves space, power

Sharp Corp.'s Mebius MN-930-X23 desktop computer features a thin-film transistor 15-inch LCD that accommodates XGA images. Aside from an optical transmission port for IrDA and ASK formats, the desktop computer consolidates a 3.5-inch floppy disc drive, a 20x CD-ROM drive, a 3.2GB hard disc drive, a 32MB memory and an MMX technology 233MHz Pentium processor. Other features of Mebius MN-930-X23 are multimedia personal information management software, Internet Explorer 4.0 software, and the Windows NT4.0 operating system.

Toshiba: Miniature notebook delivers exceptionally advanced performance

Article Abstract:

Toshiba Corp. has introduced a new miniature notebook computer that features a 166MHz Intel Pentium processor with MMX technology. The Libretto 100CT comes standard with the Windows95 operating system and a 2.02GB hard disc drive. The notebook computer has a 7.1-inch SVGA thin-film transistor active-matrix color display with 800x480 dots. The Libretto 100CT can dial directly into an Internet link and can support PC Card slots. It also incorporates a Universal Serial Bus interface.

Extremely portable, Sony's VAIO notebook computers hop from audio to video to data tasks

Article Abstract:

Sony Corp. has introduced new VAIO notebook computers that weigh only 1.3kg. Both Sony's 505GX and the 505G models are part of the Video and Audio Integrated Operation series which feature 32MB synchronous DRAMs that expand optionally to 64MB. Both notebook computers have a 10.4-inch active-matrix thin-film transistor LCD with 800x600 dots. Both the 505GX and the 505G models incorporate 128-bit graphic accelerators and are compatible with SoundBlaster digital formats.
