American Express simplifies speeds up reservations

Article Abstract:

American Express Corporate Service Group of New York is preparing to roll out an new speech-recognition system called Paris that will give corporate travelers 24-hour telephone access to real-time flight availability information as well as enable them to make reservations easily. The user-friendly system, which was developed with Nuance Communications Inc. of Menlo Park, CA, recognizes names and synonyms for over 350 U.S. cities and airports and up to 10,000 phrases. American Express' corporate travel policy and negotiated fares are automatically applied each time an employee uses the system.

Health insurer increases service with new system

Article Abstract:

Swedish Health Insurance Agency (RFV) has enhanced its customer service with the launch of its RFV Telephone Service that handles call-ins for the 7.1 million people enlisted on its database. The RFV Telephone Service, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, allows customers to register for 10 social insurance services using a touchtone phone and a 020 number. The customizable system, developed using Envox Script Editor, decreases the time consumed on telephone calls and alleviates the burden on RFV's personnel resources.

Ameritech launches privacy manager

Article Abstract:

Ameritech debuted on September 1998 a new service that blocks telemarketers from making sales calls. Called Privacy Manager, the innovative service prevents unwanted, unidentified calls from reaching consumers and thus allowing fewer interruptions of consumers' free time. Privacy Manager joins Ameritech's range of privacy-enhancing services, which includes caller-ID, call screening, *69 ID service and private listings. Ameritech is set to start licensing the service software to other telephone companies sometime in 1999.
