Are we going to be PC?

Article Abstract:

There is still little understanding among construction professionals in the UK of what prime contracting actually involves, even though it is intended that prime contracting will bring about substantial changes to the way in which construction is procured. Prime contracting is based on the view that, by awarding a contract to a single entity that unites the entire supply chain, it will be possible to make time and cost savings. Taking on a prime contract presents more challenges for consulting engineers, architects and quantity surveyors than for contractors.

Option paralysis

Article Abstract:

Making choices in construction can be a time consuming activity especially when too many options are offered to clients who sometimes have difficulty making decisions about simple things, such as colour. Clients often benefit by limiting options which can be done skillfully by an architect or structural engineer without the client being aware. Solution offering allows decisions to be made before the client is asked to comment on final options, which saves time and prevents projects being held up needlessly.
