Excite, Dow Jones form BTB marketing firm

Article Abstract:

Excite@Home and Dow Jones and Company Inc has formed a joint venture online business-to-business marketing firm called Work.com. The new company, which is a combination of the news site dow-jones.com and Excite's business services site, also called Work.com, targets small- and medium-sized businesses that buy products and services through the Internet. It will be based in Redwood City, CA, and equally owned by both companies.

Behind the DoubleClick merger: buying behavior is Abacus' key asset

Article Abstract:

DoubleClick Inc, operator of the leading online ad network, announced it is buying Abacus Direct Corp, a company that runs the biggest database of consumer catalog buying behavior in the US, for $1 billion. The proposed acquisition is a major coup for DoubleClick, whose ad placement technology is used throughout its network of 1,500 Web sites. The announcement of the merger, however, has provoked cries of protest from privacy advocates.

A week of mega-mergers: Quebecor on top of the printing world

Article Abstract:

Quebecor Printing Inc has agreed to acquire World Color Press Inc for $2.7 billion in what both firms have called the largest merger in the history of the printing industry. The entity resulting from the merger will be named Quebecor World Inc and will generate annual revenues in the US of $4.7 billion. As the largest printer in North America, it will print magazines, catalogs, books, direct mail and other materials. The Quebecor- World Color merger is significant because it combines two first-tier players in the industry.
