City discounts Tilbury bid

Article Abstract:

Experts in the City of London believe that it is unlikely that a single purchaser will be found for the 29.5% stake which German contracting firm Philipp Holzmann currently holds in Tilbury Douglas. Holzmann has decided that the industrial situation in Germany would make it very difficult to undertake a full takeover of Tilbury Douglas, so it now plans to compete in the UK through toll roads. It is possible that the stake will prove attractive to institutional investors who have so far not found it easy to buy shares in Tilbury Douglas.

Rogers and Foster draw up City schemes

Article Abstract:

Office schemes are being developed for London, England, by Norman Foster and Partners and Richard Rogers Partnership. The Corporation of London has faced attacks on its planning rules, which critics say are overly strict. Restrictions may be eased following a meeting between the corporation, occupiers, estate agents and developers in London. There will also be pressure on the UK environment secretary, John Gummer, to ease guidance on planning policy.
