Cost information on charging, materials and wages within the construction industry are given. Construction industry pricing levels from South-eastern building contracts are shown. Plain ceramic tiles cost an average of 25 pounds sterling per square meter and concrete roof tiles cost an average of 13.50 pounds sterling per square meter. Other topics include civil engineering, landscaping, planning, and national insurance costs.

Typical procurement schemes for this type of construction are either traditional selective competition or construction management. A breakdown of current costs for a typical B1 light industrial or office building is presented. Specifications for shell and core building are outlined, plus an alternative specification and a cost model.

Building and top UK quantity surveyor Davis Langdon and Everest have produced figures to be used as a guide to national building tender prices for the first Qtr of 1993. The figures can be used to update Spon's price book for 1993. Preliminaries for tenders have risen in between 5% to 6% on any competitive tender above 250,000 pounds sterling.
