Court bans credit card protection marketer

Article Abstract:

Source One Publications Inc, based in Arizona, in May 2001 was banned by a federal court in Phoenix from using telemarketing to promote credit card protection services This comes after the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) accused Source One and its officer, Courtney Ann Wiggs, of marketing useless credit card protection services. According to the FTC, the company and Wiggs were charged in 1999 law enforcement sweep of phony credit-card protection frauds. Also, Source One was ordered to pay a $200,000 bond before engaging in any other telemarketing efforts.

Court rejects DNC challenge

American Teleservices Association (ATA) decided to adopt a new strategy of safe guarding the interest of the industry through cooperation after the US Supreme Court upheld the no-call list and dismissed ATAEs challenge. The ATA & DeFalcoEs strategy of changing the government and public perspective towards teleservices is discussed.
