DMA set to take over nonprofit federation

Article Abstract:

The Direct Marketing Assn (DMA) intends to acquire the National Federation of Nonprofits. The acquisition, which is expected to be announced on Jun 20, 2000, still require the approval of DMA's board of directors. The purchase will create the DMA Nonprofit Federation, a move that will make nonprofits the biggest special interest group within the trade association. Despite the need for board approval, sources close to the group say that the acquisition is already a done deal.

Elmo, Big Bird take on Barney: Sesame Street rolls out its club for kids

Article Abstract:

Children's Television Workshop, whose primary properties are the television program Sesame Street and the Sesame Street Magazine, has launched its first affinity club in company history. It will be called the Sesame Street Laugh and Learn Club and will target preschoolers aged one to four years. The new club will be promoted through an inbound teleservices campaign, the Internet World Wide Web and, indirectly, through direct mail packages.
