Decorative delights

Article Abstract:

Victorian decorative tiles are becoming increasingly popular in the 1990's. An estimated 20,000 homes a year are being built in traditional Victorian fashion with complex roofing designs, such as finials, ornamental ridge tiles and barge boards. This is due to increased consumer input into the design of property and a move away from conventional design. Many commercial housebuilders are offering traditional homes, such as Higgs and Hill Homes and Lovell Homes. Maintenance is no longer a problem as Redland have introduced a range of concrete finials that are mechanically fixed and storm-proof.

High-lighting

Article Abstract:

Philips Lighting has launched the Micro Power Xenon Light (MPXL) gas-discharge lamp to be used for car headlights. The MPXL produces high light output, reduced energy usage and three times higher luminance than halogen lamps. These lamps enhance automobile safety by providing the driver a wider field of vision and better light distribution on the road. They also eliminate the need for lamp replacement because they last as long as the vehicles.
