Engage buys AdKnowledge as industry consolidates

Article Abstract:

AdKnowledge Inc, based in Palo Alto, CA, was purchased by Andover, MA- based Engage Technologies Inc in a $193-million stock transaction. The acquisition will combine Engage's consumer profile data of online shoppers with AdKnowledge's ability to track the impact of ads in the Internet. The deal is also the latest in the online advertising industry, which has seen the consolidation of Abacus Direct Corp and NetGravity Inc in summer 1999 under a stock-for-swap merger.
