Pump and circumstance

Article Abstract:

Allies and Morrison was responsible for designing a new sewage pumping station for Thames Water at Abbey Mills, London, England. This is a sensitive site, as it contains two grade II listed buildings and is bounded by a nature park, and the design had to take these factors into account. The hydraulic engineering contents of the building played a key role in determining its shape, which is extremely innovative.
