Gathering places fulfill the desire to be connected

Article Abstract:

Bigelow Homes' Rainbow Pointe community in Hanover Park, IL, presents a planned community that encourages neighborly interaction. Company Pres Perry Bigelow states that the design philosophy focused on people's desire to meet new friends and Rainbow Pointe provides an environment conducive for friendly activities. The community contains 104 townhouses with floor areas ranging from 900 to 1460 sq ft. Landscaped courtyards, wide sidewalks, trellised entries' porches and gazebos contribute to the friendly atmosphere in the neighborhood while open floor plans allow the entry of natural light into the units.

Systems builders find opportunities overseas

Article Abstract:

Ryland Trading Ltd, a subsidiary of the Ryland Group of Colombia, MD, has expanded its operations to include joint ventures in Russia, Turkey, Senegal and Mexico. The partnerships offer opportunities for the American builder to know other countries' building technologies and import new housing ideas. However, company officials say that going overseas involves a lot of risks and requires careful consideration of company abilities, finances and goals. But the rewards are great for those who will commit thir time and energies to these joint ventures.
