German post buys in US and UK; faces problems in Brussels

Article Abstract:

German postal giant Deutsche Post AG (DP) is back on the acquisition trail after buying Global Mail in 1998. Global Mail has bought New York-based QuickMAIL while DP has acquired UK's Herald International Mailing. Herald has annual sales of 14.5 million pounds sterling while QuickMAIL has sales volume of $24 million. DP has spent more than $6.5 million in the acquisitions but has secured a grip on the US postal market. QuickMAIL would be integrated with Quick International Courier while Global Mail would become a part of DP's International Mail Services.

German post buys more in US, Italy

Deutsche Post Global Mail, the German post office's international arm, has acquired International Postal Consultants (IPC) of Hanover, MD, for an undisclosed amount. IPC specializes in customized global mail services to publishers, financial institutions and direct marketers. It has been chosen by Inc Magazine as one of the 500 fastest-growing privately-held companies for three consecutive years. IPC is the German post office's third acquisition for 2000, after Quick Mail and USD.

Razorfish opens third German office

Article Abstract:

Razorfish, a New York, NY-based Internet and digital design company, has acquired Medialab, an e-business solutions provider in Munich, Germany. The acquisition, which is worth $9.4 million, gives Razorfish its third office in Germany. The two other offices are in Hamburg and Frankfurt. Medialab, which has been providing consulting, technology services, design, information and architecture since 1990, will now be known as Razorfish Munich.
