Fat Hat Factory is enjoying an average sales order of $195 three weeks after mailing 7,000 copies of its summer catalog, which resembles a children's story book. The Quechee, VT-based cataloger and retailer of women's clothing and hats has a target audience of professional women with annual incomes of $50,000-$100,000. The story book theme pervades the 26- page catalog, which measures 8 in by 6 in. The catalog is divided into four sections, namely Basketweave, Washable Linen, Nantucket Terry and Travelwear.

Frederick's of Hollywood dons new spring look

Frederick's of Hollywood Inc has revamped its 76-page catalog, resulting in increased response rates. According to Danielle Savin, Frederick's VP of direct marketing, the company has improved presentation of lingerie and special-occasion attire by eliminating 'items that were not paying for their space.' The catalog has over 400 items that carry prices ranging from $8 for lace crotchless panties to $160 for a limited-edition designer red silk gown.
