Stampede is on for Internet market share

Article Abstract:

US and European Internet companies are scrambling to establish operations in Latin America in a bid to be in a strategic position when electronic commerce finally booms in the region. Companies that have ventured or are planning to set up shop in the region include PSINet, Telefonica Interactive, America Online and Prodigy. The number of Internet users in South America is projected to soar from 4.1 million in 1999 to 26.6 million in 2002.

Good year for Swedish DM, but DRTV and Net lag

Article Abstract:

The Swedish direct marketing (DM) industry is booming along with the Swedish economy. European Union data protection directives have not had a significant impact on the industry because Swedish direct marketers have already been dealing with such restrictive regulations for many years. It also helps that the opt-out option in DM offers is not popular among Swedes.
