Costs soar on City landmark

Article Abstract:

The final cost for the office building being constructed for Japanese bank Daiwa in London, England, could be 50% higher than the original shell-and-core budget of 48 million pounds sterling, according to joint venture contractor Kajima-Laing. The increased costs have mainly arisen as a result of design changes, with Daiwa looking to increase the usable floor area of the building. Daiwa believes that the cost overrun will not be as great as Kajima-Laing anticipates.
