Having 'the right stuff'

Article Abstract:

Marine industry firms are advised to take on the services of an expert witness should a disagreement result in litigation. Expert witnesses must be well-known specialists who should be experienced in providing expert testimony. Expert witnesses are evaluated according to their qualifications and whether their testimony will be credible in a courtroom. They must not only be knowledgeable but must also be effective and forcefull in presenting his or her opinions before a courtroom.

Marinas International is going shopping

Article Abstract:

Marinas International LP of Dallas, TX, plans to acquire large marinas in strategic locations over the next two or three years. With a new partner, real estate investment fund Whitehall Street Real Estate LP, the company intends to spend between $300 million and $400 million on the acquisitions. The company has begun its acquisition binge in 1998 and so far has built a portfolio of 16 properties.

Tiny boat, big mission

Article Abstract:

Walker Bay Boats Inc hopes to revolutionalize the marine industry with its injection-molded small boats. The 8-ft, 3-in Walker Bay 8 weighs merely 71 lbs which is made possible through injection molding and the application of 5,000 tons of force. Although injection molding is very costly, it contributes to cheap manufacturing costs. Its minimal weight and design, which allow stacking to minimize freight costs, also enable the firm to give a suggested retail price of $449.
